daily java

Daily Java: Praise the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens.
Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness.
Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre,
praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute,
praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.
(Psalm 150)

We go to a big beautiful church building, we have on nice clothes, there is a great praise band playing praise and worship, the minister is educated and talented, the seats are comfortable, the communion ware is gleaming, the temperature is right. We have been to worship.

“I just love going to worship at that church!”

Another church has a guy of indifferent talent on a guitar, the seats are hard, the minister is earnest but not that great a preacher, the communion ware is WalMart plates and such. They have been to worship.

“I felt so close to God today at worship.”

There is a great felt need to have things just right for worship. If we don’t, we begin to feel cheated. The band is great, yes, as are the facilities and the preacher and all. But worship is not in a place.

It is in a heart. Your heart.

The psalmist says, praise God anywhere. Praise God with anything. Praise God in any circumstance.

Are you in the church building? Praise God. Are you outside looking at the stars, praise God. Has he done something great in your life? Praise God. Are you in silence thinking about him? Praise God. Are you in the midst of one of the most joyous worship services  you have ever seen? Praise God.

In other words, praise God no matter the place, no matter the circumstance, no matter the situation. Praise God anyway.

There is no set time for praise. Sure we have corporate praise on Sundays, but our lives of praise are not limited to that time. We praise God with our lives. We do it anywhere.

Have things gone badly? Praise God anyway.. have things gone great? Praise God anyway. Are you tired and hungry, cold and lonely, praise God anyway. Are you feeling on top of the world and there is nothing that can stop you? Praise God anyway.

Just praise him with your life, not just our mouth or your presence in a church.

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!

You are welcome to say anything you want as long as it is nice. If I don't like it, or it is ugly, I will take it off, place it into the garbage disposal, grind it up, and allow it to be flushed into the Gulf of Mexico where it will be eaten by a fish and then excreted where it will lie on the bottom of the ocean until it is covered up by other comments.
