java soaked theological philosophy and associated blather from a spiritual nomad

daily java

Daily Java: The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. (Psalm 119:130).

There is an understanding that can only come from the word of God, that cannot come from any other source.

We want that understanding and we try almost anything we can find to get it. We accumulate educational degrees, we read books, go to seminars, buy crystals – everything we can think of to get it.

But it doesn’t come. And there is an emptiness in us that we hate, that we are desperate to fill.

There is a way to get that understanding, however. It is not through our own understanding, or through our own way.

When we call to him, when we cry out to him, he will give us that understanding. It is almost like a dawning, things make sense, questions are answered. And it is only through him that we get that understanding.

There is nothing wrong with the degrees or the books or the seminars. The crystals are stupid attempts to do something, though. But there is nothing wrong with the accumulation of knowledge from outside sources.

That knowledge, though, will not do us any good without the real knowledge: the knowledge of God and his way. When that knowledge comes, it is like water in its satisfying.

That is one reason Jesus said that he was living water. Just like water is the ultimate thirst quencher, so the knowledge of God through his Word is the ultimate spiritual thirst quencher.

When he gives that understanding, it is so simple that we almost whack our heads and say,  Of course! Why didn’t I think of that? It is so simple. And it is, but only if God gives it.

When we try to attain it ourselves, it is unbearably complex and unattainable. And we feel so empty.

True satisfaction comes through the knowledge of him and his words.

You are welcome to say anything you want as long as it is nice. If I don't like it, or it is ugly, I will take it off, place it into the garbage disposal, grind it up, and allow it to be flushed into the Gulf of Mexico where it will be eaten by a fish and then excreted where it will lie on the bottom of the ocean until it is covered up by other comments.
